What to do when it all goes wrong…

What happens when you get it wrong?

Making decisions around hiring whether you are the job seeker OR you are hiring can be hard.

We have talked about the important of being clear in your process and being confident in your decision BUT even with all the best intentions things can still go wrong.

Your new recruit can join the team and within days you can sense a problem.

You can turn up to your new role, meet the team and instantly feel that its the wrong place for you.

What should you do?

Over the years we have seen many examples of when this happens.

Sometimes its about poor communication. A client once called to say that the employee was consistently late but when explored - they hadnt been given a start time and made an assumption.

It can be about seeming lack of skills but this can also be about communication and patience. You might want someone who can be "up and running" but everyone needs adjustment.

Time can often resolve any of these issues but not all.

If its not going to work act quickly.

If you have used a recruitment agency to support you let them know, you might be able to take advantage of a rebate.

If you are the employee and have used an agency - call them - they will be able to support you.

Speak to the relevant people and work out if this is something you can resolve.

Dont wait.
